The Riegler Method is a novel approach for individualised, stepwise diagnosis, therapy and follow up of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Barrett’s esophagus. The method is embryology-, pathology- and physiology- based and performs cause related, life quality based, personalised management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Barrett’s esophagus (BE).
The Riegler Method aims to eliminate the two major reasons for GERD- and BE- induced impairment of life quality:
the symptoms (heartburn, acid regurgitation, wheezing, coughing)
the cancer risk in those with Barrett’s esophagus (anxiety, fear to get cancer).
„There is no reflux without failure of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) ±
distorted anchorage of the lower oesophagus within the diaphragm (hernia)“
